Thistledown Farm is the creative vision of Penny Johnston, proprietor. A serial entrepreneur, 20 years ago she searched the Maine coast for the perfect property, barn and location to develop a small, but unique gathering place for others to enjoy. Today, it includes a restored and repurposed 1850’s hand hewn post and beam barn, sheep shed cottage, and private apartment surrounded by stone terraces and walls, flower gardens, and an expansive lawn. Three glamping rental tents in the woods complete the unique setting. Recently, Thistledown Farm acquired a nearly adjacent abandoned farm property where Penny is in the process of making a private waterfront preserve for walking and paddling to the sea.
